Heidi Makes A Podcast! Podcast! Podcast!

Episode 20--"Could We Get Just TEN SECONDS of Emotional IQ Training in School?"

Season 1 Episode 20

[Artwork explainer: comedian Kyle Dunnigan as Charlemagne. See more below.]

This special episode intertwines Great Podcast Moments--both silly and serious, from comedy & psychology podcasts--with original insights on related subjects. We begin our heartfelt,  joyful exploration with a fun-yet-serious question posed by comedian Kyle Dunnigan in the opening moments of the episode:

(Excerpted audio borrowed from You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes)

"[Kyle Dunnigan]:
"Why don't they teach--This is my question. Okay, we learn how to count or whatever--do math, calculus--never gonna use it.
All these things we're never gonna use.

Charlemagne! I know about Charlemagne!  And I don't care, and it doesn't matter.

Why don't they teach ANYTHING--even like a
half hour--on how to  deal with our emotions?! Things we deal with 24/7, all day, keeps us up at night...

...Even a
hint! Like: 'Oh, by the way'--Like 48 minutes of Charlemagne, and then like 'By the way, you don't have to believe all your thoughts!'

Then the bell rings, go to recess. Like: 'Oh, let me think about that--'

NOTHING!" [...]

[Pete Holmes]:
"A
little bit of emotional intelligence training!"

[Kyle]:
"
TEN seconds!"

[Pete]:
"
Just give us ten seconds!"

********

And more like that. Only different. Never not serious but also frequently silly.

You'll laugh, you'll learn--you'll love it.

Or you won't.
